It was a dark and stormy night. No it wasn’t, it was a typical California Bay area, overcast, fall, night. All was well with my world.
I was home alone working in my office.
Five minutes after 5:00p.m. I heard “them” coming. Or rather felt that I heard “them” coming. The low, rumbling roar of an entire fleet of diesel powered monster trucks. This sound took seconds to register. As I scrambled to get even to way, all heck broke loose. The noise was deafening. It was all I could do to hang on as the floor went violently one way with the floor going another. ( The 7.2 Loma Prieta earthquake, 1989, California’s Bay Area)
It was dusk, our home was trashed with at least two feet-deep of rubble, broken glass and “stuff” covering the floors in every room. The walls were standing, but very little else inside was.
I crawled over the rubble trying to find my shoes, trying to hang on as the ground continued its morbid dance.
Where was my husband? … Somewhere out there. And then the next big aftershock hit!
I desperately needed something for something to help me with immediate calm and some control in “my world” that was now out of control. The earth and “my world” didn’t stop moving for months!

Salsbury Enterprises is introducing an essential item for your preparedness program. At the onset of a disaster the first and foremost thing to do is hang on and help those around you to hang on, doing whatever you have to survive. As soon as the earth slows down in its violent shaking or the awful winds have passed, leaving desolation, destruction and turmoil behind, the aftermath begins.

Many times lag-time and the aftermath are what hit us right between the eyes as soon as we realize we have survived. Usually these two villains are accompanied by fear, loss of control and many times complete chaos. Lag-time is t he length of time the aftermath lasts until a measure of normalcy is restored. Normalcy being the utilities such as heat, light, water and so on, you are used to having. That could be hours, days or weeks, and in some instances even longer.

At this point if you have a roof remaining over your head consider yourself blessed. One of the reasons fear intensifies is that for most of us in this kind of situation, our control or capability for control is gone. Even those of us who have attempted to put together supplies and equipment in a preparedness program find ourselves in a state of dismay. This is especially true if it is dark or getting dark and those things that have represented security are in disarray – or even non-existent. Those supplies and equipment are most likely out of sight, out of reach and perhaps some are gone with the wind.

Having gone through similar circumstances, and watching current events unfold – seemingly more rapidly than in previous years or even decades, I decided to fill a critical niche. In the event of a major crisis it will help individuals and families to more quickly overcome the sense of fear and loss of control.

The Disaster Quick Packtm that will fill that critical niche to put calm and some control in place! This is especially true if you make it an integral part of your preparation plans!
